Mesopotamia, Babylon, Assyria Art Photos

Mesopotamia (aka cradle of civilization & fertile crescent) with a history spanning 5000 BCE to 333 BCE sat between the Tigris & Euphrates Rivers in what is now Iraq. Traces of the art & related cultures of several city states have been excavated from the region. Two of the best known are Babylon (down river) & Assyria (up river). Depending on era they ruled each other and their art & both used cuneiform writing.
