St Margaret Queen of Scotland Art Photos

St Margaret of Scotland (1045-93), forced to flee England after the battle of Hastings (1066), was given refuge by King Malcolm III of Scotland (whom she marrited). She was known for her deep piety & compassion for the poor. She established the first ferries across the Firth of Forth to bring pilgrims to worship at St Andrews in Fife. In 1673 she was declared Patroness of Scotland.
