Ceramic Pitchers with Ships Photos

American naval history is well depicted on creamware pitchers, many of which were commissioned by American ship owners from British pottery firms in the early 19th century. The tradition evolved from sailing ships to other shipping aspects. Some British naval history is included. Many of these pitchers were made in Liverpool, the main port for early American trading vessels or up-canal in Staffordshire. These ceramics are in museums and none are for sale.
