Wildlife of New Zealand Photos

Because of its isolation, before Maori & later British settlers, with animals, arrived, unique bird species evolved. Some of these unique birds were driven extinct & others remain threatened by human settlement and introduced animals, but the NZ government has taken strong protective measures. Along with its unique birds, New Zealand is also rich in other bird life, such as penguins & a breeding colony of albatross & marine mammals.
