Cardiff Castle - WWII Air Raid Shelter Photos

Cardiff Castle Air Raid Shelter is large air raid shelter created in the tunnels under the castle walls during WWII. The shelter, able to accommodate 1,800 townspeople was needed because as one of the largest coal ports in the world Cardiff was heavily bombed. The shelter, which was considered one of the safest in Cardiff because of its thick walls, included kitchen, dormitories & toilets.
