St Thomas, Apostle Art Photos

St Thomas Apostle (aka Doubting Thomas) (Martyred 72) likely born in Galilee, but it is unknown when and where he became an Apostle of Jesus. He is best known for refusing to believe that Christ had been resurrected and appeared to the other Apostles unless he could see and touch Christ for himself, hence, Doubting Thomas. When Christ appeared to him he exclaimed "My Lord and my God". Thus, Thomas was the first Apostle to explicitly acknowledge the divinity of Christ. He is reputed to have later preached in India and what is now Iran. He was martyred in India, in Chennai, by being stabbed in the back by a non-believer. Patron Saint of India for those of Christian faith.
