St Matthias (replaced Apostle Judas Iscariot) Art Photos

St Matthias Apostle (1st C) who is only briefly mentioned in the New Testament, was selected by the other Apostles to replace Judas after his betrayal of Jesus. Details of his subsequent life are contradictory. He is not to be confused with St Matthew, the tax collector, who was one of the original Apostles.

Attrib: axe (primary attribute); sometimes book.
