French National Assembly Photos

The Palais Bourbon is the home of the French National Assembly (Assemblée nationale), the lower house of the French Parliament. The building (1722-28) was a private palace confiscated by the state during the French Revolution in 1795. Sitting across the River Seine from the Place de la Concorde, Napoleon had the columns & pediment (with a frieze to his victories) added to create symmetry with Madeleine Church. After Napoleon's empire fell the frieze was changed.
