Neresheim Abbey, Bavaria Photos

Neresheim Abbey Church (1747-92), 20 km from Nördlingen Bavaria, was the last work of the famed Baroque architect, Balthazar Neumann, who died part way through its construction. This church replaced a Roman Basilica constructed in medieval times. The church is noted for its domes frescoed by Martin Knoller depicting seven scenes from the Life of Christ. The Abbey remains an active religious institution.
