Stuttgart, Baden-Württemberg Photos

Stuttgart, the capital of the state of Baden-Württemberg, is located on the Neckar River in southwest Germany. Much of the city, which dates back to the 10thC, was destroyed by WWII bombing, but was re-built and modernized post-war, resulting in a mix of modern and historic architecture. Today, Stuttgart is a cultural and economic center particularly associated with the development of the automotive industry and wine production. Of particular interest to the visitor are: the Mercedes-Benz and Porsche museums; Altes Schloss (Old Castle) which houses a historical museum; and Staatsgalerie (Art gallery) which features works from medieval times to the 20thC.
