Dinkelsbühl, a former free imperial city of the Holy Roman Empire, is located in central Franconia in Bavaria. Highlights include its city walls and towers and the traditional Bavarian half-timbered buildings lining the streets in the historic center. Historically, Dinkelsbühl is remembered for the invasion and occupation by Swedish troops during Thirty Years War in the earlier part of the 17thC.
