Chilehaus, Hamburg Photos

Chilehaus (1924), designed by Johann Friedrich Höger and located on Fischertwiete Street in the Kontorhaus District, is recognized by UNESCO as an exceptional example of Brick Expressionist architecture. The angular structure, built to resemble a ship's prow, is a center for international maritime trade. Henry B. Sloman, who commissioned the building, made his fortune in Chile; hence its name.
