Smith Tower, Seattle Photos

Smith Tower, designed by Gaggin & Gaggin in 1914, with 38 floors, was the tallest skyscraper outside of New York when it was built by the Smith typewriter company. It has long been noted as a symbol of Seattle, for its outdoor observation deck, for the Chinese Room decor of its observation deck interior room, & for its carved Indian heads in its lobby. It sits at 502 2nd Ave. overlooking the Pioneer Square Heritage District to the south and major modern downtown skyscrapers & waterfront to the north.
