Utah State Capitol Photos

The domed capitol building of the State of Utah was built 1911-16 and was designed by architect Richard K.A. Kletting. Prior to its construction, the Utah legislature met in what is now the Salt Lake City & County Building (1891-4) designed by Monheim, Bird, & Proudfoot. The Utah territorial government met in Council Hall (1864) which was also the Old City Hall, now moved to opposite the new capitol building.
