President Calvin Coolidge SHP, Plymouth Notch, VT Photos

The President Calvin Coolidge State Historic Park comprises virtually the entire town of Plymouth Notch, VT, where the 30th U.S. President was born and maintained connections as he rose to become Massachusetts Governor, then U.S. Vice Present. Upon the death of Warren G. Harding, Coolidge who was visiting Plymouth Notch, took the Oath of Office from his father, a notary public. The Oath story and Coolidge's humble beginnings struck a cord with the American public who started visiting the town by the thousands. This village of about 30 people saw the opportunity and froze the town in time. Most of the town is now run as a Vermont State Park with a modern museum in the reception center.
