British Museum - Roman Buried Treasure Photos

The British Museum in London displays several hoards of treasure buried at the time when the Roman empire pulled out of Britain because it needed its troops to defend Rome against invaders. The worry about potential consequences of this unexpected abandonment of Britain caused citizens to bury & forget their wealth like silverware, some not to be found again till modern times. The Mildenhall treasure (4thC CE) is one of the more famous collections of Roman silver art.
