Queen Elizabeth II Photos

Ruled Great Britain 6 February 1952 - 8 September 2022. Elizabeth II found herself heir to the throne after the abdication of her uncle, and after that her family oriented childhood became focused on her preparation for one day becoming Queen. After WWII she married Philip Mountbatten whom she met while he was serving in the Royal Navy and who had the title of Prince of Greece and Denmark which he renounced prior to their marriage. During the course of her lengthy reign, Elizabeth worked tirelessly carrying out her official duties and meeting people from all strata of society in Great Britain and throughout the British Commonwealth. At the time of her death, she had ruled 70 years, longer than any other monarch in British history, and was succeeded by her eldest son, Charles III.
