President James A. Garfield Portraits & Mementos Photos

When President James A. Garfield (20th U.S. President took office 1881) was assassinated within the year it was a shock to the nation, since unlike the first assassination of Lincoln, it was a time of peace. Many mementos were produced in Garfield's honor. Many of the mementos pictured on this page are housed at the President James A. Garfield National Historic Site.
