Sagamore Hill National Historic Site, Theodore Roosevelt House, Long Island, NY Photos

President Theodore Roosevelt and family built their summer home named Sagamore Hill in Cove Neck near Oyster Bay on Long Island, NY. The Queen-Anne style house (1885) was designed by architects Hugh Lamb & Charles A. Rich. It served as Teddy's Summer White House (1902-8) and afterward his home until his death in 1919 and his wife Edith's home until 1948. It is now run as a National Historic Site by the National Parks Service. Visitors take guided tours of the interior to see objects ranging from fine furniture to Teddy's taxidermy trophies.
