Vincennes State Historic Sites, IN Photos

Beside Grouseland, the State of Indiana runs an open air museum centered on the Indiana Territory Capitol or aka the Red House which started life as a tailor shop in 1805 until the Territorial Legislature took it over in 1811. Other buildings include a replica of the Print Shop of Elihu Stout, printer to the Indiana Territory. The Jefferson Academy (1801) was established by William Henry Harrison as a frontier college & primary school. Also present is the birthplace (1840) of author Maurice Thompson.
