Tapestries of France Photos

France had three major historic manufacturers of hand woven tapestry wall hangings & carpets: Gobelins (a royal factory) (15thC-current); Beauvais (17th-18thC); & Aubusson (17th-18thC). While palaces & museums often display historic weavings, the makers & dates are often unavailable or uncertain. This page displays images of tapestries which are identified as being from France, but readers are advised to do further research before making attributions.
