St Lucy Art Photos

St Lucy (aka St Lucia) (martyred 304) converted to Christianity and vowed to live a life of chastity. She was arrested when denounced by the man to whom she had been promised. She was put on a cart bound for prison, but the horse refused to move. She was then burned at the stake, but the flames did nothing. She was then killed by sword to the neck. Perhaps, because her name means light, she is invoked to cure eye afflictions. Symbols: sword on neck, burning at stake, cord, eyes on plate, lamp or candle.
