Sican & Lambayeque Culture Art Photos

After Moche culture came to a sudden end (800 CE) on the northern Coast of Peru, the vacuum was eventually filled by Sican and Lambayeque cultures which came to compete for about 50 years, before the Chimu culture became the dominant force (1375). Each culture adopted stylistic elements of those preceding it. Moche is primarily known for ceramics, but significant gold & metalwork remains from following cultures. Lambayeque culture is known for double-spouted vessels.
