American Redware Pottery Photos

Redware Pottery was the earliest pottery locally produced in America from red clay, glazed with lead. A design was usually painted on before firing. Much surviving redware was produced in CT and PA. Redware was considered a common, cheap, replaceable alternative to harder ceramics imported from Europe and the Orient.
