Belle-Isle-en-Mer, France Photos

Belle-Isle-en-Mer, the largest (32 sq. miles) of the Breton Island, is known for its scenic rocky coast and picturesque fishing ports. In earlier times, the island was subject to attack, and remnants of its fortifications remain. Since the late 19thC, it has provided a refuge for notables such as Claude Monet and Sarah Bernhardt.
