Lyon, France was established by Romans in 43 BCE because of its strategic site of the confluence of the Saône and Rhône Rivers guarded by a high hill. The town later became famous for its Renaissance silk weaving & trading industry. Modern Lyon, the major town between Paris & Marseille, offers visitors a mix of important historic & modern architecture.
