Beauvais Cathedral, France Photos

Cathédrale St-Pierre de Beauvais, aka Beauvais Cathedral, (13th-16thC) was intended to be highest vaulted Gothic cathedral in Europe. That goal was met but at a cost of an incomplete cathedral, major collapses during construction, and an ongoing need, even today, for braces to shore innate structural weaknesses. The Cathedral is also noted for its 16thC stained glass windows & a highly ornate astronomical clock (c1865) with dials displaying time, seasons, tides & eclipses.
