Füssen City Museum in former Benedictine Monastery of St. Mang Photos

Museum of City of Füssen (Museum der Stadt Füssen) is housed in the baroque four wing complex of the former Benedictine Monastery of St. Mang. The museum showcases the ornate baroque rooms of the monastery which were designed to emphasize its wealth and power, especially the oval library and frescoed ballroom. Füssen's well known Dance of Death, painted on 20 panels, is found in St. Anna's Chapel. The museum also includes a replica of a lute making shop, Füssen having established the first lute maker's guild (1562) in Europe.
