Bamberg Old Town Hall Photos

Bamberg Old Town Hall (originally built 1467) on artificial island in the River Regnitz supposedly after the local Bishop refused to grant land for the secular building. The picturesque Old Rathaus was remodeled (1744-56) by Johann Jakob Michael Küchelis. It is noted for its Baroque murals (1755) by Johann Anwander. The setting over the River and opposite the quaint neighborhood called Little Venice further make Old Town Hall the highlight of Bamberg. The building is still used for functions and hosts a fine ceramics museum.
