Scott's Bluff National Monument with Mitchell Pass Photos

Slightly beyond Chimney Rock on the Oregon Trail was Scott's Bluff a major obstacle to westward movement. At this point, wagons which had been spread out into the 20-mile wide Oregon Trail had to come together to file up the Mitchell Pass. In early years about 50,000 people passed this point in one of the earliest mass migrations in history. The pass is now part of a National Monument run by the National Park Service.
