Tacoma Glass Museum Photos

The Tacoma Museum of Glass (2002) was part of a massive renewal project of Tacoma, Washington's waterfront. The museum building with a volcano-shaped tower with a spiral surface was designed by Arthur Erickson. Leading to the Glass Museum is a bridge over the Union Pacific tracks designed by Andersson-Wise Architects also in 2002. Called the Dale Chihuly Bridge in honor of this locally born glass artist, the structure has two artistic features. The Seaform Pavilion displays an array of Chihuly's freeform colored glass objects in its ceiling while the Venetian Wall contains Chihuly's sculptures which mimic glass designs of the glass-making Italian City. Two Crystal Towers on the bridge display an array of blue glass forms.
