Yorktown, VA Photos

The final battle of the American Revolutionary War was on the banks of the Charles River on October 19, 1781. The British army under General Charles Lord Cornwallis there to surrendered to General George Washington after a siege by combined American & French armies. Today the National Park Service runs the historic site as well as nearby pre-revolutionary houses. The state of Virginia operates an Open Air Museum of Yorktown Victory Center.
