Clermont Mansion Photos

Clermont State Historic Site in Germantown, NY, was occupied by seven generations of the Livingston family. The current house (c1792 & 1920s) was built on a 13,000 acres estate, the largest in Colonial New York after the original house was burned by British in the Revolutionary War. Livingston family members played a role in the American Independence movement, negotiated the Louisiana Purchase, the steam boat's development, and other matters of government.
