White Mountains, NH Photos

The White Mountains of New Hampshire serve as a recreation area for New England. At its center is Mount Washington, the highest East of the Rockies, which is served by a steam-driven cog tourist railway. At the base of Mount Washington is an historic resort hotel - the location for the 1944 Bretton Woods conference which created rules for international monetary exchange & needed to recover from WW II. Other White Mountian recreation areas are found around Franconia Notch, where the state symbol rock formation, Old Man of the Mountains, once stood looking over the nature landscapes.
