Vicksburg National Military Park Photos

Vicksburg National Military Park marks the positions held by Confederate & Union troops during the siege of the town of Vicksburg (May 18 - July 4, 1863) with a series of sculpted monuments. The North's victory completed the Union's control of the entire Mississippi River, split the South in two, gave the North its first major victory and the will to continue, and elevated the status of Ulysses S. Grant who lead the Vicksburg campaign.
