Laura Plantation on Mississippi River Road Photos

Laura: A Creole Plantation (1805) (2247 River Road LA#18 in Vacherie, LA) conveys the history of the French family who lived here for generations, including Laura Locoul Gore, the last matriarch to run the Creole-style plantation home. The beautifully restored & furnished home are open for tours. Also of note are the gardens & slave quarters. This plantation boasts the literary distinction, because it was here that the Br'er Rabbit Tales were written down based on stories that slaves brought from Africa.
