Mission San Luis, Tallahassee Photos

Mission San Luis de Talimali was established in 1656 by Franciscans to serve the Apalachee Indians. It was capital of Western Florida until 1704 when it was burned as the town fled before Anglo-Creek forces. The reconstructed church is still consecrated and once served a village of 1,400 Indians & Spaniards. The town sat on Florida's El Camino Real (King's Highway) which reached to St Augustine & beyond.
