California State Railroad Museum, Sacramento Photos

The California State Railroad Museum, located in Old Sacramento, has one of the finest collections of early locomotives, many associated with the first transcontinental railroad which terminated in Sacramento. Sacramento earned this distinction because four investors took the chance of backing the transcontinental concept when none in San Francisco would. The museum has among the finest displays of any railway collection & is as much a museum about the opening of the West.
