Crocker Art Museum, Sacramento Photos

The Crocker Art Museum's entrance occupies what was once the Italianate mansion of Judge Edwin Bryant Crocker, brother of Charles Crocker, one of the "Big Four" Sacramento families who started & financed the first transcontinental Central Pacific railroad. Judge Crocker acted as legal council for the CPR. Judge Crocker bought this Sacramento block in 1868 & commissioned architect Seth Babson to expand the existing house into a mansion. No expense seems spared in the decoration of the house. The art museum house & extensions now contain are strong in historical scenes of California & the West.
